CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Kirkwood High sophomore quarterback Miles Reding has been named one of five semi-finalists in the state of Tennessee for the TSSAA 6A Mr. Football Award. He is the first Clarksville area semi-finalist since DJ Merriweather, who won the award with Clarksville Academy in 2022.
“Being the first Mr. Football semifinalist in Kirkwood High School history is an incredible honor and a dream come true,” Reding told Clarksville Now.
“It’s amazing to represent our school, especially as we’re only in our second year. As a sophomore, I’m grateful for the support from my coaches, teammates and everyone who has helped me reach this point. This recognition motivates me to keep pushing myself and raising the bar for our team. I’m proud to be part of this journey and excited for what’s ahead for Kirkwood football.”

Reding in his first year with the Cobras has completed 60% of his throws for 1,826 passing yards and 23 touchdowns, with a 122.4 quarterback rating. He led the entire 6A Class in passing yards and passing touchdowns, according to Kirkwood High head coach Chad Watson.
The Mr. Football Award, sponsored by the Tennessee Titans, is given to the best player in each classification in the state of Tennessee. The three finalists in each category will be announced on Tuesday, November 26. Meanwhile, the three finalists will travel to Nissan Stadium on Tuesday December 10, where the award will be given to the winner.
