CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Kirkwood High junior guard Montavious “Tay” Clardy has been named Clarksville Now Player of the Week following his performance in the Cobras games the week of Dec. 8.
Clardy averaged 13 points, 8.5 assists, 7 rebounds and 3 steals throughout the week, which included him reaching a career high with 10 assists against Northwest.
“Every game is built on the trust of my teammates,” Clardy told Clarksville Now. “We’ve built a connection that benefits us, and the belief from my coaches to be a good player on and off the court.”

Clardy did just about everything you could ask as the primary ball handler for the Cobras to earn Player of the Week honors. He did it in multiple ways too, dropping 21 points against undefeated Red Bank High School out of Arkansas, and dishing it when he needed to, having seven assists in that same contest, plus three steals on the defensive end.
With injuries to players on Kirkwood, Clardy was asked to fill a larger role, and not only did he fill it, but he also excelled.
“Tay has been a valuable part of our program since day one,” said Kirkwood head coach John Stigall. “He’s our starting point guard and has improved tremendously. When Armani Smith went down, Montavious embraced the opportunity and truly stepped up. We’re extremely proud of him. He’s our guy, and it’s great to see him getting the attention he’s worked so hard for.”
