CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) –Kirkwood High athletics recently celebrated three seniors signing to play football at the collegiate level during the week of Feb. 24.
This includes running back Christian Shogun, who signed with Cumberland University, linebacker Perry Cross-Snead, who signed with Georgia Military College, as well as offensive lineman Alex Coffin signing to play for Midway University.
“Signing to play college football is more than a dream come true, it’s a reminder that the man above gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers,” Cross-Snead said. “I’ve fought through adversity, put in the work, and now I’m ready to take on the next challenge with faith, strength and determination.”
These seniors have all made history at Kirkwood, as they contributed to the program earning its first playoff berth and home playoff game. This class has set a foundation for the future at Kirkwood Football, which is only heading into its third season for their program.
“I am very proud of all three of these young men,” said Kirkwood head coach Chad Watson. “They all have their own story and have worked hard to get to this point. Helping kids get to college is something we take pride in at Kirkwood.
“We have some more guys that will sign next month. The main thing we want our younger players to take away from this is if they want to get to the next level, they have to take care of things in the classroom first and then focus on their development and becoming better men overall,” Watson said.
