CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Kirkwood Cobras are the last team still playing football in Montgomery County after earning their first playoff win in school history over Brighton last week. Now, the number eight-ranked team in class 5a hits the road to face the number one-ranked team in the class, the Page High Patriots. Let’s break down the matchup of the two squads this Friday.

Team breakdown: Page High Patriots

The Patriots have compiled an undefeated 10-0 record to this point in the year, with notable wins over Brentwood, Henry County and Green Hill, all by multiple scores.

The Page High offense is averaging 43.3 points a contest, including a 62-point performance in their first-round victory over Hendersonville. The Patriots excel on the ground and will run it down your throat. Meanwhile, their defense is allowing 10.6 points a contest, including only six points allowed in the last three weeks combined.

Team breakdown: Kirkwood High Cobras

On the other side, the Cobras are led by quarterback Miles Reding, who has put up video game numbers in the last few weeks, and he’s protected by Mr. Football semifinalist offensive tackle Kamari Blair.

Reding has over 2,400 total yards on the year and 32 total touchdowns. His favorite target as of late, slot receiver and speedster Jayden Portis, will look to make an impact on offense, as well as in the return game. Just last week he returned a 91-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, which earned him Clarksville Now Player of the Week honors.

The Cobras’ defense has also forced several turnovers in recent weeks, including a strip and score by Josiah Claybrooks on Brighton’s first play from scrimmage last week.

The Cobras are riding the momentum of the best season in program history and look to add a little more history on Friday. Kirkwood looks to be the first team from Clarksville to advance to the quarterfinals since Northeast High School did in 2020.
