Kirkwood’s Jamall Bradley kicked things off quickly, scoring in the second minute to earn a quick lead. Israel Ortiz followed him up in the thirtieth minute, and the Cobras went into the half with a 2-0 lead. Each defense held strong for the second half as each team went scoreless, and Kirkwood earned a big win against a city opponent.

“This is a crucial time in the season for us,” said Kirkwood High head coach Kelley Guth. “Playing a regional opponent is a good matchup for us. We came out strong and scored early, which is something we haven’t really done all year. We’re just trying to improve as a team before postseason play in a week and a half, and we made some positive steps today.”

“I feel that if we performed better in the first half, we would have had more success in the later parts of the game,” said Northwest head coach Kyah Mcgee. “We showed up in the second half, it was just too late, but props to Kirkwood, they earned that win.”
