CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Kimberly Turner has announced her candidacy for Circuit Court judge for Montgomery and Robertson Counties.
The Circuit Court Part III seat was previously occupied by Judge Ted Crozier.
“Judge Crozier’s retirement will result in a loss of life experience, knowledge, wisdom and legal experience on the bench,” Turner said. “It was this loss that led me to consider running for judge. Since I am not a politician, I thought long and hard before deciding, and ultimately it was the fact that I am not a politician that led me to run.”
She said that as judge she will “administer the law justly without regard for race, sex or political party affiliation.”
Turner, 54, has been a lawyer for 21 years and is a member of the Tennessee, Florida and Alabama Bars. She has practiced in federal court in Tennessee, Florida and Fort Campbell.
She spent eight years as a criminal prosecutor and another year prosecuting medical malpractice/malfeasance, including over-prescribing “pill-mill” doctors. She has been in private practice since 2011 focusing on criminal, civil and domestic/family law matters.
“I understand the judicial system from both sides, and my experience gives me unique insight into what it truly means to be a judge,” Turner said.
Turner’s husband is a retired Green Beret who served 22 years in the Army. They have three children and one grandchild.
Turner will be on the August ballot as an independent.
