CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Local law enforcement officers joined 88 children and their family members on a free shopping spree Saturday at the Walmart on Madison Street.

Several agencies participated, including the Clarksville Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System coordinated with all of their school counselors and to identify kids to receive gifts, according to CPD spokesman Scott Beaubien.

Among the sponsors was Wyatt Johnson Buick and GMC, who donated $12,000, Beaubien said. Thanks to the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library, in collaboration with Imagination Library, every child who shopped with left with a book, and eligible children were able to sign up with Imagination Library to receive one book a month for a year. Mission BBQ provided food and treats for participants.
