CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Keymonta Epps, a U.S. Army veteran, has announced his candidacy for the Ward 9 seat on the City Council in the Nov. 5 election.
As a small-business owner and ambassador of a boutique wine company exclusively sold at a local business, “Pinky’s Up,” Epps said he has received firsthand experience in investing in the economy of our city. With his seat at the table, he plans to advocate for all Clarksville citizens, he said.
Currently, Epps is a flight attendant and Bachelor of Social Work student at Maryville University.
Epps said he plans to advocate for families and children in foster care, address the numerous infrastructure concerns, and increase community engagement regardless of race, creed or color.
“I am running for Clarksville City Council to bring support and much-needed change to our thriving community. I am looking to make an impact in our community by helping families meet their basic needs. This is not just my race; this is a race to bring change for us all,” Epps said. “That is why my slogan is ‘A New Vision, A New Voice.’ I would like to introduce a new path for Clarksville while also being a fresh young voice for this upcoming generation.”
Epps has lived in Clarksville since 2016. He and his husband Malik have two young sons, Jaxen and Mason. Through his nonprofit, Ethel’s Hands, he strives to help provide LGBTQ+ youth with resources surrounding HIV education and support.
