CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Kenwood Lady Knights traveled to West Creek High School for a rivalry matchup in front of a lively atmosphere on Friday. The game saw seven players foul out, along with two buzzer beaters to force not one but two overtimes. It culminated in West Creek missing a last-second shot and Kenwood holding on for a 69-68 win.
It was a game of runs, and West Creek grabbed the momentum early. Kenwood grabbed it right back, and the two squads went back and forth for the next 32 minutes. By the end of the third, West Creek had a 1-point lead.
The Coyotes held a 3-point lead with nine seconds remaining, than Sanya Seay drained a 3-pointer as time expired to force the first overtime. Seay ended the night with 34 points.
“They did the little things right and earned the right to be in a close game,” said Kenwood head coach Jemiah Harrison. “She’s one of our best shooters; it went in, and that’s all that matters.”

Overtime was more of the same, with the two teams trading blows. Kenwood gained the lead with 10 seconds remaining with a layup. West Creek said we’re not done yet though, and Charlene Nunn hit a layup on the other end to take it to double overtime. Nunn led the Coyotes with 33 points.
“They did everything I asked, right down to the final whistle,” said West Creek head coach Mikaela Coleman. “These girls were selfless and fought through everything that was thrown at them tonight. They couldn’t have played any better.”
In double overtime, there’s no way it would end then a one-possession contest. West Creek designed a quick screen for a layup, but it fell short, and the Knights held on to a 1 point victory.
“They fought hard and earned it. We had a lot of key players foul out, and they fought through it,” said Harrison. “I’m so proud of them for getting it done.”
