CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Kenwood High School was evacuated due to a bomb threat Thursday, August 9, 2018.

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) officials said the evacuation lasted for about 15 minutes around 1 p.m. and followed standard protocol.

Local law enforcement surrounded the perimeter of the campus for security purposes.

“All students are safe and are following dismissal procedures,” CMCSS Community Relations Director Antony Johnson said.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) spokesperson Sandra Brandon said the school received the threat and reported it to 911. Kenwood’s Student Resource Officer conducted an initial sweep of the school, followed by another sweep conducted by a K9 deputy.

Clarksville police assisted MCSO in establishing a perimeter. Students were allowed to return to classes after the building was cleared.

No further information about the origin of the threat has been released.

This is the second threat made at a local high school this week. On Wednesday, the first full day of class, three students were detained for threats made on social media against Clarksville High School.
