CLARKSVILLE, TN – This past school year, the National Honor Society of Kenwood High School has been dedicated to physically revitalizing Kenwood High.
As the Kenwood High National Honor Society’s mission statement states, “To create a culture of scholarship, leadership, service, and character by committing to serve people as our purpose and Kenwood as our calling,” this year’s chapter has achieved that. After applying for an $800 grant with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, these great students put these funds to their mission. With this grant, Kenwood students started to build a passion for revitalizing KWHS.
The NHS hosted multiple clean-up days for the school’s exterior and interior, with a focus on the activities entrance. Additionally, they fully cleaned places of school spirit like the trophy cases, gym, weight room, and auxiliary gym.
Kenwood’s NHS then partnered with the Kenwood Engineering and Design Academy to laser cut custom hallway labels to help new students find their way across Kenwood High. This grant also allowed students to buy hallway banners and materials to resurface every school bulletin board. They also worked to add greenery in front of the school and the activities entrance.
Through the Kenwood High restoration project, Kenwood students have built up pride in their school while allowing these great students to gain leadership and serving experience, all while meeting a community need.
