CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Kenwood High School Knights were just a few games away from making the postseason in 2023. Now, the revamped squad is looking to make a run this fall, and head coach Jarrett Snead knows that will take a lot of effort and sacrifice.

The Knights had a 2-8 record in 2023. They were close to the playoffs, their loss to Kirkwood by only nine points in week 10 being the nail in the coffin.

Coach Snead is continuing to instill a culture of hard work for the Knights.

“We have to continue to work hard,” said Snead. “That includes learning how to win hard games, and close games, just compete every snap, and see what happens. Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good, but the only way to be lucky is to compete.”

As for this fall, the Knights are loaded with offensive and defensive playmakers. The offense will be led by quarterback Jacoby Cox, who is a big, elusive body, with a rocket for an arm. The plan for coach Snead this fall is to get the ball in the playmakers’ hands.

“What I love about our team is we have a lot of playmakers,” said Snead. “We want to get our playmakers the ball and let ’em work, whether that’s in the run or pass game. We have athletes all around the field.”

The Knights have a lot of work to do to compete in Region 7-6A, and Snead’s message to his team is you have to sacrifice a lot for this thing to work. If it does, the Knights could be a scary sight in the fall.

“Only way this whole thing works is to sacrifice,” said Snead. “We have to operate as a team. If you can’t sacrifice for your teammate, then we’re not going to achieve the goals we want to achieve.”
