CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (ESPN CLARKSVILLE) – The Kenwood Knights began spring practice this week with some holes to fill from last season.

Antwuan Branch, who will be suiting up in the powder blue for North Carolina this fall, and Coreon Jackson who will make his Austin Peay debut are probably the most notable, but the team will also be replacing Brian Beaubien, their leader and head coach for the past four years.

Beaubien stepped down last week due to commute time and family circumstances including a new baby on the way. Interim coach Brian Justice has kept things as normal as possible for the Knights, including spring practice. Justice is pleased with how the team has adjusted so far without their head coach.

“The team has responded with a positive attitude. They want to build on the previous success that was achieved under Coach Beaubien,” Justice said. “Every day the team has shown excitement and a willingness to do what we as coaches have asked to make the entire transition smooth.”

The Knights hope to return to post-season again this year. They have jumped up to the 5A region 7 along with Northwest, Clarksville High, Northeast, West Creek, Dyer County, and Henry County. This spring, the Knights are getting back to the basics.

“The overall goal for the spring is to improve on technique and fundamentals. We want to create an atmosphere that makes the game fun for the players,” Justice said.
