Allensville, KY – (CLARKSVILLENOW) On April 20, at approximately 10:00 PM, Trooper Curtis Crick saw a Nissan Altima speeding on US Hwy. 79, north of Allensville.
Trooper Crick initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. When he made contact with the driver, he detected the odor of marijuana and told the driver to exit his vehicle, but the driver refused. Crick then opened the door and tried to remove the driver, when he accelerated, almost dragging the trooper under the car.
After traveling a short distance, the driver stopped. Crick, once more tried to pull the driver out of the vehicle. Again, he accelerated, dragging the trooper a short distance before stopping. Crick was then able to remove the driver from the vehicle, though he continued to resist. Crick gained control, and identified the driver as Keelon Rice, 24, of Clarksville.
Rice was arrested and lodged in the Todd County Detention Center where he was charged with the following:
1.) Speeding 26 MPH or > Speed Limit
2.) Reckless Driving
3.) Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
4.) Assault 3rd Degree- Police Officer or Prob Officer
5.) Resisting Arrest
6.) Operating on Suspended or Revoked Operator’s License
7.) Display or Poss of Cancelled or Fictitious Oper License
