HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – All first responders in the nine counties served by Pennyrile Electric are being invited to attend a BBQ dinner, and to learn about electrical hazards they may encounter when responding to emergencies.

According to Brent Gilkey, V.P. Member Services at Pennyrile Electric, electrical hazards are encountered almost daily by first responders. Gilkey says, “First responders are exposed to a variety of accidents involving electric poles and wires. In addition, we see house fires, barn fires, and lines downed through the course of nature.”

Gilkey also stated that natural disasters such as tornadoes, lightning storms, and even flash floods wreak havoc for first responders. “Our goal is to keep everyone safe.”

BBQ will be served at the Pennyrile Electric Operations Center at Daysville on Tuesday, September 13, at 6:00 p.m. for First Responders serving Todd, Logan, Muhlenberg, and Butler Counties. BBQ for Trigg, Lyon, and Caldwell First Responders will be served in Cadiz at the Cadiz District Office on September 20 at 6:00 p.m. First Responders in Christian County will be served at the Pennyrile Electric Operations Center in Hopkinsville on September 22 at 6:00 p.m.
