Kay Frances Shelton, age 72, of Thomasboro, IL, formerly of Clarksville, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at Heartland Nursing Home, in Paxton, IL.

Kay was born on January 31, 1944, in Clarksville, TN to the late Horace and Etha Lee Emmett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Grady Monroe Shelton; two sisters, Margaret Ann Rives and Shelia Coleman; and daughter, Nancy Lee Shelton-Nevins.

Mrs. Shelton was a member of Sunnyview Baptist Church and retired from the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Kay (Kent) Brotherton; three grandsons, Jeremy (Lindsay) Brotherton, Matthew Brotherton (Tara Flesner), and Jordan Brotherton (Danielle Walsh); granddaughter, Stephanie (Brett) Jones; five great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Emmett; and two sisters, Cathie Emmett and Debbie Gannaway.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Brotherton, Matt Brotherton, Jordan Brotherton, Brett Jones, Ricky Rittenberry, and Bill Kelly.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at the Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Rev. Bobby Kail officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016, from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sunnyview Baptist Church Cemetery.
