Karen Himes, age 78, died of natural causes on January 24, 2024, at her home at Fieldstone Place in Clarksville, Tennessee surrounded by sister, Judy and two nieces, Lori (Jake Treanton)
and Taunya Mowery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Duaine Lindquist Himes in addition to her grandmother, Evalina Sunshine McKelvey Lundquist, long-time residents of Davenport, Iowa. She is survived by two sisters, Judy Treanton of Cleveland Tennessee and Carol Wyer of Great Falls Montana as well as nieces and nephews in Tennessee and Montana.

Karen was born on August 4, 1945, in Davenport Iowa, attending Davenport schools (grade school through Central High School). She graduated from Butler High School in Huntsville
Alabama and attended the University of Alabama, Huntsville before receiving a BA in Psychology from Covenant College on Lookout Mountain Tennessee. She did graduate work in Accounting at the University of Baltimore Maryland. Career-wise she focused on the computer industry in the commercial, health care, and collegiate fields from 1971 to 2011. She retired from the McLeod Medical Center in Florence South Carolina.

Travel dominated her entire life. As an adult she travelled not only in the USA but also internationally. She was given to hospitality, reading, and many different handcrafts. She extensively was involved and served in various capacities with the following organizations: The Navigators, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and Operation Mobilization.

She made the decision to receive Jesus Christ as her own Lord and Savior at the age of 12 in Greenville, Mississippi She gave testimony (in word and deed) throughout her remaining years to His authority.

The Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home in Clarksville is handling local arrangements. A grave-side burial service is expected to be held later in Davenport IA.
