CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (Clarksvillenow.com) The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office held a memorial service Friday for K9 Titan. Titan passed away on June 19 from complications following surgery.
Around 75 people, many personnel from local and regional law enforcement agencies, attended the ceremony.
It was a very emotional service with Titan’s handler, Deputy Dale BeCraft and his family seated in front of a table with numerous photos, the vest, collar, badge, and other items used by Titan and Deputy BeCraft spread across the table. Titan was remembered for his high energy, loyalty and dedication to work during his service.
During the ceremony an honor guard presented Deputy BeCraft with a folded American flag and a recording of Amazing Grace with bagpipes was played. Sheriff John Fuson and Sergeant Mike Oliver spoke and both praised and shared stories about the time Titan and BeCraft were together.
Sheriff Fuson talked about the importance of the K9s and their handlers. “Titan, along with the other K9s here at the Sheriff’s Office make an impact. They make an impact in every community they are in. It’s an important program for law enforcement and public safety,” said Fuson.
Sergeant Oliver said he was asked to describe Titan for the service. “I would have to say he was loyal. At times he was goofy, but when it came time to work he was serious as any other dog there was. The most important trait though was he always wanted to please his handler, and I think he did that well,” said Oliver.
