CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Several vehicle burglaries and a vehicle theft were reported in the Liberty Park Subdivision in the Woodlawn area on July 25, which resulted in a juvenile being charged.

Credit and Debit cards obtained from the vehicle burglaries were used at various locations by the suspects. The stolen vehicle, a Chevrolet Cruze, was recovered in Nashville the following day.

According to a news release from Montgomery County Sheriff’s office, investigators were able to obtain surveillance footage and identify the thieves.

A 16-year-old juvenile has been charged with vehicle theft, vandalism and theft of property related to this incident.

“Vehicle thefts and burglaries have increased in recent weeks,” MCSO spokesman, Sgt. Bishop Delaney, said. “Remember, these are generally crimes of opportunity. People committing these crimes tend to overlook secured vehicles and focus only on those that are unlocked.”

Delaney said that these types of crimes occur during overnight hours in large neighborhood communities and encourages people to remember to remove valuables and lock your vehicles.
