Juneteenth was made a national holiday in 2021 and is celebrated each year to commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States.
CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – For the third year, organization in Clarksville celebrated Juneteenth with a parade, a block party and a festival on Saturday.
Events began with the Clarksville Juneteenth Parade, hosted by Manifest Magic Black Girl Cooperative with the theme “We Are One.” The parade featured close to 20 entries, with floats, marchers, businesses and vehicles, that made their way from the Burt-Cobb Recreation Center on Franklin Street, through downtown, returning to the center.

“It’s been really great for us to grow and keep doing this for the community,” said founder and owner of Black Clarksville Tiffany Perkins. “Everyone has such a great time and it’s great for us to see what the Black community is like here and to see Clarksville culture. It’s really great to be a part of that,” Perkins said.
