A Celebration of Life service for MSGT Joseph Thomas Marable, AIR FORCE (Ret), 87, will be Thursday, February 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Sykes Funeral Home with Geoffrey Sikes officiating. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service.
Joseph was born on November 21, 1936, to Pete and Lucille Marable in Clarksville, TN. He passed away January 30, 2024. Joseph spent 22 years in the United States Air Force where he earned the rank, Master Sergeant. He was an Air Force flight engineer. He also flew 69 combat support missions in Vietnam. Joseph had a heart for helping others, he volunteered at the senior citizen center, and he also helped build a church in Libya. He has been to 6 continents, including Antarctica where he received the Knights of the Emperor Penguin Court certificate. Joseph was a member of Trenton Crossing Church of Christ. He loved God, traveling and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents Joseph is preceded in death by 5 siblings. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Shirley Marable, children, Gary (Beverly) Marable, Gregory Marable, Terry (Rodney) Cacal, Kathy (Brent) Hamm, and Tammy (Scott) Bradley, grandchildren: Daniel, Garrett, Shannon, Stacie, Bradley, Amber, and Dylan, and 8 great-grandchildren.
