Joseph Jay Kurz, age 74 of Clarksville, TN, passed away peacefully with his family alongside him at his residence on Monday, June 7, 2021. Joseph was born on October 1, 1946, in Dayton, OH to the late Joseph Peter and Thelma Naomi Kurz.

Joseph was a music teacher for 55 years. He owned his own business, Klassy Keys Music. He was very talented at multiple instruments. Joseph bought and sold instruments as well. In 1965, Joseph moved to Clarksville, TN to pursue his ministry as a Jehovah Witness. He watched the congregations grow from one location to five. At the time of his passing, he was a member of the South Clarksville, TN Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years, Edith Kurz of Clarksville, TN; daughter, Lydia Jackson (Denny) of Lebanon, TN; sister, Anna L. Reed of Dayton, OH; grandchildren, Jada and Asher Jackson. Joseph is also survived by mother-in-law, Margaret Carpenter of Clarksville, TN; sister-in-law, Madeleine Demetrius (Peter) of Chicago, IL; nieces, Tiffany Pinkley (Ryan) and Phoebe Demetrius; nephews, Chris Reed and Nathan Demetrius (Yorell); and many great-nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Joseph is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Russell Reed.

There will be a private family memorial service at a later date.
