Joseph “Gil” Raymond, age 70, of Clarksville, passed away Friday, February 20, 2015 at Gateway Medical Center.

Joseph was born February 7, 1945 in Ft. Kent, ME, to the late Red Raymond and Mildred Ellen Jardine Raymond. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Leonard Raymond; and one sister, Lorraine Raymond.

Joseph was a retired chief in the US Navy, having served for 24 years, including a tour in Vietnam. Mr. Raymond was also retired from the Richland, SC Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of Little West Fork Baptist Church, VFW Post 4895, and American Legion Post 0233. He also enjoyed volunteering in elementary schools.

Funeral service will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 27 at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Pastor Kim Allen officiating. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the hour of service on Friday, February 27 at the funeral home.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Mercedes Martinez Raymond; son, Jim (Robin) Raymond; two daughters, April (Chris) Scott and Judy (Ryan) McMichael; two sisters, Marion Maloney and Jeanette McEachern; eight grandchildren, Joshua Raymond, Jamie Raymond, Coty Scott, Raven Scott, Ava McMichael, Riley McMichael, Aiden McMichael, and Zachary McMichael; and one great-grandson, Vladmir Scott.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to the Alzheimers Association, 4825 Trousdale Drive, Nashville, TN 37220.
