Joseph Alan Quillen, 67, passed away on May 31, 2024, at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Born May 4, 1957, in Columbus, Indiana, to Harry E. Quillen, Sr. and Donna J. Eddy Quillen. He served 20 years in the Army, including deployment to Operation Desert Storm as a member of the 101st Airborne Division. After his service, he worked for Bridgestone Metalpha for 23 years until his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Donna Quillen, and his brothers, Harry Quillen, Jr. and Mark Quillen. He is survived by his wife Mary Weddell Quillen, daughter Amanda (Greg) Quillen-Maschek, Father Harry Quillen, Sr., brothers Jeff Quillen, David (Cindy) Quillen, grandchildren Egan and Ainsley Maschek, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Big Joe loved racing ATVs, and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying deer hunting, duck hunting and fishing. After retirement, he spent time working with animal rescue, particularly Cincinnati Lab Rescue, transporting dogs on their freedom rides.
A Celebration of Life in Joe’s honor will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Neal Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 PM until the hour of service at Neal Tarpley Parchman.
