CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Jorge Padro, a retired US Army major, has announced his candidacy for the District 9 Montgomery County Commission seat.
Padro served for four years as a Veterinary Technician at Fort Campbell. Upon completing his four-year obligation, he transferred to the Tennessee National Guard. While in the National Guard, he got his commission as a second lieutenant at the Tennessee Training Academy. He later went to Fort Knox, Kentucky, and led as an M1 Abrams Platoon Leader. He then served as a medical Platoon Leader while at Fort Riley, Kansas. He completed his obligation and transitioned to a training brigade at Fort Knox.
While assigned to the training brigade, he served as a subject matter expert training units about medical evacuation operations in the combat theater.
Padro, a Clarksville resident since 1984, holds a master’s degree in General Administration from Central Michigan University.
Padro said he and his wife hold close ties with Clarksville, having raised three children, all graduates from Northeast High School. His older son graduated from Tennessee State University, his daughter graduated from Middle Tennessee State University, and his younger son graduated from the University of Tennessee.
“My campaign will focus on making our schools safer by supporting our law enforcement with random inspection of all cars on school grounds and zero tolerance towards anybody caught passing out drugs,” Padro said. “Some deterrence is needed to create a safer environment that leads to a better learning atmosphere.”
