CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – ClarksvilleNow and 5 Star Media Group are encouraging the public to help support local disaster relief by donating to the victims of the Ashford Place Apartments fire.

The Jan. 29 fire displaced 20 families, who lost most of their belongings as well as their homes.

The families have been aided by the Red Cross and were temporarily housed at the Crow Recreation Center, but more help is needed to get these families back on their feet.

The community can visit the Sango Walmart at 2315 Madison Street to donate cash, checks, or gift cards only (purchased or used items are not preferred). These will be distributed to the families based on need. On-air personalities from Q108, Beaver 100.3 FM, Z97.5, and Rewind 94.3 will be on site to collect donations during the following hours:

• Friday, Feb. 1 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
• Saturday, Feb. 2 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Effective immediately, those who wish to make a monetary donation online can visit LifePoint Church’s Local Disaster Relief Fund. These donations are vetted through the Red Cross to assess the needs of individual families so that all donations remain 100 percent local. Every little bit helps. Make sure you choose Local Disaster Relief Fund in the drop-down (see example below):
