CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The nonprofit organization Artlink in Clarksville is sponsoring a very special event, it’s a Learn to Draw Dino’s Class, coming up Saturday, February 13 at the Customs House Museum. The class will take place from 1-3 p.m. and is free for kids of all ages.
All supplies will be provided and the event will go on as long as supplies last, so organizers say you might want to show up early for a guaranteed spot. Local artist Mel Plunkett, one of the talented artists with Artlink is hosting the class.
“I’m a big dinosaur fan so I figured there was nothing more fitting than for me as an artist to do something I really enjoy and share it with the kids from our community. I love dinosaurs so let’s get some kids who love dinosaurs come and let me show you how to draw them,” said Plunkett.
The class will provide paper and drawing supplies including pencils, colored pencils, crayons and markers. There will be some drawing diagrams to choose from, that way everyone can explore and learn different ways to make their dinosaur drawing as fun and unique as they are.
As for Artlink, they have been around for about 3 years. Maria Haycraft was one of the people who founded the group and has been the moving force behind the organization according to Artlink President and artist Terry Smith.
Smith said Artlink helps young people in Clarksville-Montgomery County get the creative outlets they need. Smith added at this time they offer one class a month which is usually at the Customs House Museum but they are working to expand those classes as well as looking for other opportunities.
