John Morgan Matthews, Jr., age 80 of Clarksville, passed away on June 21, 2021.
He was born on October 30, 1940 in Montgomery County, Tenn. to John and Agnes Matthews.
John was a professor at Austin Peay State University. He enjoyed gardening, watching sports and reading about World War II.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Matthews. He is survived by his wife of over 49 years, Nancy Frimel Matthews; sons, John (Rachael) Matthews, Samuel Matthews and Robert (Amy) Matthews; grandchildren, Zaida and Felicity Matthews and sisters, Betty Sue Hodges and Angie Sapp.
A celebration of life service has since been held at Martha’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Bro. Ben Falls officiating. He was laid to rest at Martha’s Chapel Cemetery.
