CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Joel Wallace has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination to the Circuit Court position being vacated by Judge Ted Crozier Jr.
Crozier was elected to the 19th Judicial District, Division III, position in 2016 and recently announced his intention to retire at the end of his term in late 2022. The 19th Judicial District is made up of Montgomery and Robertson counties.
“I want to thank Judge Crozier for his service and congratulate him on his well-deserved upcoming retirement,” Wallace said. “The person chosen by the voters to succeed Judge Crozier will have big shoes to fill. Judge Crozier and I are similar in that we both come from families who understand and believe in the importance of public service. When Judge Crozier made his announcement in early December, the words that struck me most in his message were about being courteous and respectful to all those in his courtroom. Those traits – courtesy and respect – are something that, if elected, I will strive to display on a daily basis; they go hand in hand with serving in a fair and impartial manner.”
Wallace has practiced law in Clarksville since 2006 with the law firm of Cunningham, Mitchell and Rocconi. He served two terms on the Clarksville City Council, from 2008 to 2016, and currently serves on a number of local boards and commissions. He and his wife, Emily, are parents to two boys, Clark and Sadler. He received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Memphis.
“I hope part of our message really hits home right now, when it’s such an important time in the sports world with the Super Bowl coming up, college basketball getting deep into conference play and, hopefully, baseball right around the corner. If you think about it, as our Chief Justice John Roberts says, judges are really like umpires and referees. They don’t make the rules but make sure that people play by them. And nobody ever went to a ball game to see the umpires,” said Wallace.
“We are running an active campaign. We are going to work hard in every community – from Hilltop in Montgomery County to Ridgetop in Robertson County and every place in between – over the coming months.”
