CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Clarksville Transit System (CTS) is looking for bus operators.

CTS Director, Arthur Bing, says they are looking for mature drivers who can get a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), work well with the public, and of course operate the bus. Bing said CTS will provide assistance for those who do not already have a CDL.

“Our mission here is to pick up and drop off passengers safely, that’s the main thing drivers have to do,” Bing said. “It’s the best place to work in the city. We respect our drivers, we know that they are the backbone of this organization. Without them, none of us would be here and we try to take very good care of our drivers.”

As of April 1, the pay for CTS bus operators will increase to $15.75 an hour with the possibility of another increase later this summer to make the pay more competitive in the market. All operators start as part-time drivers before moving to the full-time position.

CTS is looking for applicants with a good work ethic as well as a good driving record. Potential drivers will have to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and a drug screen testing. CTS has a one-year probation period.
