The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development’s Office of Reentry (OOR) is hosting its second annual hiring and resource fair to celebrate National Second Chance Month. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, April 21, at the Clarksville American Job Center at 523 Madison St. The event is designed to benefit those who have had interactions with the criminal justice system as a defendant.

Clarksville will be the final stop on the OOR’s 2023 tour through Tennessee this April. The event will have representatives from employers, nonprofits, non-governmental organizations, and state agencies that offer services to help justice-involved individuals (JIIs) successfully return to their communities. Participation in this event is free and open to the public.

Activities at the event will include:

  • A job fair and hiring event with employers
  • State IDs and duplicate license services facilitated by the Tennessee Department of Safety
  • Access to community resources and organizations that operate in the reentry space
  • On-site registration into the Jobs4TN program
  • A brief program from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. where local leaders will provide remarks on the importance of the community supporting individuals who are reentering society.

Inspired by Governor Bill Lee’s vision, the Tennessee Office of Reentry was established in 2021. It exists to reduce the rate of recidivism and improve reentry efforts statewide through a collaborative, strategic, and data-driven approach.
