CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Jo Byrns High School in Robertson County announced they have hired former Rossview High baseball head coach Jason Rice as their next head coach.

Rice said his wife and sons nudged him to get back into coaching. “Eve, Bracken, and Cannon all encouraged and supported me to get back to my love and passion. I’m excited to get back on the field and work hard to build a competitive and successful program of which the Jo Byrns community can be proud.”

Rice was the head coach during two stretches for the Hawks. He was Rossview’s first head coach when the school opened, then left in 2005 due to health concerns. Rice came back to the Hawks in 2009, where in his five-year stint from then to 2014, he won 144 games.

Rice then stepped away from the game again before returning as manager of the Clarksville Whirlybirdz, a summer ball team in the Ohio Valley League in the summer of 2023. Rice spent this past season as an assistant to Chuck Cooper at Clarksville Christian School.
