Jimmie Harold Hite, age 84, passed from this life Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at his home, with loved ones present.
Jimmie was born February 1, 1931, in Sullivan County, TN, to the late Frank Hite and Leone M. Chase Hite. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Hite Shelton; brother, Leonard Hite; and sisters, June Hite Price and Wanda Hite Duchnowski.
Jimmie is survived by his wife, Betsy; children, Marianne Hite Williams, Jimmie (Cheryl) Hite, Jr., and Randy (Amanda) Hite; stepson, Jesse (Alicia) Farrar; brother, Vernon (Rosalie) Hite; two sisters, Sara Johansen and Betty Biter; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Jimmie served in the US Navy and was on the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Patrol, before beginning his life-long career as a custom home builder. He was an amazing carpenter, who built beautiful furniture for his family and friends.
He was actively involved in construction of the present Salem United Methodist Church and traveled with the church on mission trips to Central America.
Funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, July 31 at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Lannom officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Friday, July 31 at the funeral home.
