Jeffrey Marion Stumphf, 71, of Indian Mound, TN passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. He was born May 27, 1951, on post at Fort Campbell, KY to the late Roy Stumphf and Dorothy Teal Stumphf. After Roy passed away, Dorothy remarried Charles “Jap” Smith, who adored Jeffrey and raised him as his own from the age of six alongside Dorothy.
Jeffrey was a professional painter for many years and owned his own company, The Paint Doctor. He enjoyed a variety of activities including being outdoors fishing and camping, bowling, and cooking. Jeffrey helped out at the family BBQ whenever he could and never met a stranger. He was lovingly known to his grandkids and great grandkids as Papa Jeff.
Survivors include his daughter, Leslie Elliott; siblings, Rodney (Janet) Stumphf, Sharon (Steve) Shively, and Cindy (David) Schmittou; grandchildren, Bradley Pickering, Katelynn (Angel) Millan, and Nathaniel Elliott; great-grandchildren, Aria Knight, Annalisa Millan, AJ Millan, and Adrian Millan, brother-in-law, Joe Yarbrough; several nieces and nephews; his longtime friend and roommate, Tommy Fitzpatrick, and his beloved dog, Luigi, whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents, Jeffrey was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Yarbrough.
A memorial service will be held at Gateway Funeral Home on Monday, May 15, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Bro. Phillip Chambers will officiate the service.
