CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Jeff Burkhart announced today that he is running in the special election to replace Mark Green in the state senate.
District 22 comprises all of Montgomery, Houston, and Stewart counties. Burkhart, a conservative businessman and native of Clarksville, will seek the Republican nomination.
A lifelong resident of the district, Burkhart has served as firefighter for over two decades. As a small business owner, he has created employment opportunities throughout the district. He currently serves on the Clarksville city council where he says he has opposed tax increases and advocated for responsible fiscal policy.
“As your state senator, I will be a conservative leader who is accessible,” Burkhart said in a campaign release. “Our veterans need our continued support, our economy must be developed, our neighborhoods must be protected, and our students need a great education. I believe I am the candidate to get the job done.”
The State Senate District 22 Special Election Republican Primary is set for Thursday, March 7. Early voting begins on February 15.
