CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) ESPN Clarksville and Marion Jewell are recognizing Governors freshman quarterback, JaVaughn Craig, as the Marion Jewell APSU Athlete of the Week.

In his first career start, Craig accounted for a school record 466 yards of total offense and five passing touchdowns in the Gov’s loss to Tennessee State University. Craig was the only player at the FCS level to throw for five touchdowns on the day and his 466 yards of total offense was the second most for the weekend.

He completed 17-of-25 passes for 322 yards and with the five touchdowns Craig set a school record for a freshman while carrying the ball 20 times for 144 yards. The 144 yards were the fifth most by an Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) player this season and the most by a quarterback.

Craig has also been honored with the C-Offensive Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week by the OVC.
