James Velton Claxton, age 88, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020, at his home in McEwen.
A memorial service with Navy Honors will be held. Service details will be announced.
James entered this life on June 8, 1931, in Erin, Tennessee to the late John Thomas Claxton and Mable Flick Claxton. He was also preceded in death by his wife Shirley Verline Claxton. As a young man, James served in the US Navy and went on to work for the TVA where he retired as a laborer.
Survivors include his children, Teddy Claxton (Vicky), Terry Claxton, Tammy Pierce (Donnie), and Tandy Arnold (Larry). Stepson Timothy W. Cash. Other survivors include his siblings, Walter Claxton and Jewel Westerman, eight grandchildren, Hannah Claxton, Katelyn Claxton, Tony Collins, Jamie Collins, Emily Henry, Maggie Collins, Joshua Collins, Scotty Mracott, and Fourteen great-grandchildren.
