James Lee Steele, 75, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016, at his residence.

James was born on July 26, 1940, in Corbin, Ky to the late Herman Steele and Lillie Smith Steele. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Carol Smith.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Rev. Jessie Tharpe officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, July 12, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

James was a retired jeweler and former owner of Rings and Things. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Trenton, KY, Masonic Lodge 89, and the St. Bethlehem Civitan Club, where he served as Governor of the Valley District. He was a former Jaycee and involved with the St. Bethlehem Little League. He also served in the U.S. Army.

James is survived by his wife, Loretta Jean Crotzer Steele of Clarksville, TN; two sons, James Lee Steele, Jr. and Lawrence Jonathan (Apryl) Steele of Clarksville, TN; two daughters, Jana (Dale) Sykes of Deatsville, AL and Linda Jo (Elmer) Pope of Murfreesboro, TN; sister, Barbara Warren of Clarksville, TN; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Noah Steele, Jonathan Steele, Kevin Mummaw, Michael Brooks, Frank Crotzer, Jr., Scott Coleman, Ray Strickland, and Tony Battisti.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Montgomery County, 312 Landrum Place, Clarksville, TN 37043.
