James “Jimmie” R. Vinson, age 91, of Clarksville, passed away Tuesday July 12, 2022 at Tennova Healthcare of Clarksville.

James was born November 12, 1930, in Stewart County, TN to the late Roy Lee Vinson and Audie Heath Vinson.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Betsy Wallace Vinson; a son, James Russell Vinson; and sisters Gineva Hicks, Oleta Cook, Nell Lankford, Robbie Jett and Audie Keatts.

He is survived by his sons, Wally (Tara) and Jonathan (Rachel) Vinson; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Vinson Gannaway and grandchildren, Chandler, Riley, Piper, Max, Eliza and Nella.

James was a United States Navy Veteran and retired educator.  He also served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, July 15, at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home with Wally Vinson and Richard Christian officiating.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday, July 15 from 12:00 p.m. to the hour of service at the funeral home.  Pallbearers will be John R. Wallace, Jimmy Hicks, Jerry Gannaway, Jeff Scott, Scott Giles, John Wallace Jr., Wally Vinson and Jonathan Vinson.  Honorary pallbearers are Stephen Lehman and Mike Parchman.
