James Harris Carney, age 90, of Ashland City, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at his residence.
James was born May 25, 1925, in Clarksville, TN, to the late Henry Clay Carney and Ella Sims Carney. He was a US Navy veteran.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 4, at 1:00 PM, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Lannom officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, February 4, from 10:00 AM until the hour of service, at the funeral home.
Those who cherish James’ memory include his son, James Harris (Lynn) Carney II; three daughters, Cathy K. (Larry) Turner, Jamie (Dale) Pickens, and Christy (Mike) Taylor; three brothers, Hooney, Boots, and Johnny; four sisters, Julia, Mary, Martha, and Bobbie; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clarksville-Montgomery County Humane Society, 940 Tennessee Avenue, Clarksville, TN 37040; or to a hospice of choice.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to AseraCare Hospice, and especially Vicky Jones, for the wonderful care provided to James, during his final days.
