James “Big Jim” Lee Mullaney, age 70, of Clarksville, died Saturday, June 7, 2014 at his home.
He was born in Paducah, KY and was a retired salesman and owner of Big Jim’s Speed and Custom. Big Jim previously worked at ASAC (Auto Speed Accessory Center) for Bill Dewberry, for many years. His passion in life was cars, particularly Corvettes. He believed all cars had potential. The last vehicle he rode in was a 1967 Chevrolet truck, which he had given his grandson to restore. Mr. Mullaney was a 1961 graduate of Clarksville High School, where he played football.
Highlights of Jimmy’s life included Christmas, when he would dress up as Santa and deliver food and toys to the less fortunate. He was also the site manager for Meals on Wheels in Dover, TN. Big Jim also spent many years driving the church bus at Memorial Drive Church of the Nazarene, and he later became a member at First Church of the Nazarene.
A Memorial Service will be at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10 at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Rev. Ron Gilbert, Rev. Ron Bailey, and Greg Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, June 9 and from noon until the hour of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
Big Jim was raised by his grandparents, Jewell “Granny” Troupe and Lee “Dadaw” Troupe, by whom he was preceded in death.
He is survived by his wife Patsy Elrod Mullaney; sons, Clint (Jackie) Mullaney and Robert (Sheri) Streetman; daughters, Mary Todd (Kim) Lewis and Tracie Chadwell; sister, Pam Rowsey Larson; eight grandchildren, Matt Knight, Jared Neal, Aubrey and Dillan Streetman, Gavin and Mary Kate Lewis, and Logan and Ella Mullaney; and two great grandchildren.
