James Arlen McKnight, of Oak Grove, KY, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the age of 66.
James was born on April 10, 1958, in Columbia, SC, to the late Melvin Lee McKnight and Erma Jane Johnson. Along with his parents, James is preceded in death by his son, Matthew Lee McKnight.
James is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Jane M. McKnight; daughter, Carollynne Denise Moreno (Daniel); stepsons, Joseph W. Uher and Carl J. Uher; sisters, Barbara Goram, Donna Lacey-Filer, Bonnie Skinner (Larry), and Janet Doutt (Harry); grandchildren Matthew D. Moreno and Natalia B. Moreno; and his spoiled cat, Blade.
James retired from the Army after 22 years of honorable service, where he was a member of the 5th Special Forces Group at Fort Campbell, KY. James was a member of the American Legion Fort Campbell Post 233 in Oak Grove, KY for 23 years. He was also a member of The Old Guard Association and a former Oak Grove City Councilman.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 PM at Neal Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home on Friday, November 1, 2024. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at the funeral home. Inurnment with full military honors will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.
