James Alvin Lavender, age 72 of Dover, TN formerly of Galesburg, IL passed away August 20, 2014 at his residence.
The family will host a celebration of Jim’s life 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Paris Landing Hotel, conference room C, 400 Lodge Rd, Buchanan, TN. The family will receive friends beginning at 5 p.m. until the hour of service.
Jim was born July 15, 2014 in Galesburg, IL to the late Joseph and Josephine Lovitt Lavender. He served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was an avid sports fan loving his golf game. After retirement Jim volunteered at the Paris Landing State Golf Course. He enjoyed fishing, watching classics and westerns. His larger than life sense of humor will be greatly missed by those who loved him dearly.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Wilbur Lavender, Eldon Lavender and brother-in-law, Dudley Purlee.
He is survived by his children, Jim (Lisa) Lavender, Rhonda Wynkoop, Tonya (Ron) Swing, Tamra (Darrin) Frye, Diane (George) Fitchpatrick, Dawn (David) Ruggles; brothers, Don (Audrey) Lavender, Dean Lavender; sister, Anna Mae Purlee; sister-in-laws, Marie Lavender, Brenda Lavender; grandchildren; Carissa (Shane) Hart, Ashley (Mike) Kilpatrick, Cassie (Matt) Gilliland, Lauren Wynkoop, Casey Swing, Bradley Swing, Nick (Tiffany) Frey, Shelby Frye, Ryan Frye, Nathan Lavender, Caleb Lavender, Danielle Fitchpatrick, Allison Fitchpatrick, Courtney Ruggles, Erin Ruggles; 9 great-grandchildren.
