Jackie “Jack” Lee Monk, 77, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Jack was born on April 13, 1941, in Wacomah, WV to the late Garland Monk and Sadie Shrewsbury Monk. He is also preceded in death by his son, Shaun Holder and two brothers, James Monk and Frederick Monk.
Graveside service will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, KY with full military honors.
Jack retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 (CW4) from the U.S. Army after 24 years of dedicated service. He served two tours in Vietnam, where he was a medic/paratrooper on his first tour and medevac pilot on his second tour. He was awarded the Bronze Star. After he retired, he worked in civil service for 17 years, where he was an Instrument Flight Examiner for the UH-60 Black Hawk Flight Simulator at Ft. Campbell.
Jack is survived by his wife, Deborah Hausermann Monk of Clarksville, TN; two daughters, Cheri (Ted) Farmer of Pembroke, KY and Terri (Carl) Magee of Clarksville, TN; three sisters, Peggy Burkhart of Big Rock, TN, Patty Wooten of St. Augustine, FL, and Barbara Reid of Hopkins, SC; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
