Ivan Glenn Davis was born on December 27, 1957, in Camden, NJ to the late loving parents of Ellen V. Davis, William Lewis and Oscar Eddings.

Ivan was also preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Emma Jane and George David Scott Sr.,

Ivan is survived by his wife, Lovie Davis, children, Antwane Scott, Natasha (Eddie) Rigsby, Camika Coleman, Ivan G. Davis II, and Candra Davis, grandchildren, Mia’Nautica Smith, Ma’Kayla Hodges, Yazman Hicks, Duane Hodges, Jalen Hicks, Mar’keis Hodges, La’kyiah Davis, Emma Scott, siblings, Garry Davis, Kenneth (Jackie) Davis, George David (Linda) Scott II, Robert Lee Scott, and Garfield (Felicia) Scott, special friends, James Hill, Abdel Bilil, Keith Phillips, and Terrance Green, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ivan received his education from the Camden Public School District and later pursued a career in the United States Army where he served 22 years active duty, to include four tours overseas as two deployments to Operation Desert Storm and Somalia. During his time of service, he received many awards from Certificate of Appreciation to numerous Meritorious Civilian Service medals. He retired from the US Army in April 1998. Ivan always told the story that his Aunt Laverne Burch was the inspiration as to why he joined the US Army.

After retiring from the Army, his love for the Aviation field motivated him to acquire a position as a civil service supervisor with the Department of Aviation. Working with helicopters, fixing things, and taking his family to air shows was something he truly enjoyed. Ivan went on to work an additional 22 years before retiring in June 2023.

Some of the hobbies he enjoyed were fishing, traveling, playing the lotto, and most importantly just sitting in his man cave, the infamous “garage” watching TV and listening to “Gangsta’s Paradise” by Coolio.

Ivan was the epitome of what a hard-working family man was, and anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him could attest. One thing he did was make sure his children and grandchildren understood the value of doing things right, acting with integrity, and instilling in them a strong work ethic. He took joy in loading up the truck or R.V. with his wife, kids, and grandkids, with candy, slushies, chips, and cowtails. For him, creating an atmosphere that allowed his grandchildren to be children was very important. Ivan was admired by many for his integrity, achievements, leadership roles, and selflessness that he displayed. He created a wonderful life with his beautiful wife, Lovie Davis, his children and grandchildren by his side with lots of memories. He will be respected and remembered for many generations to come.
