I watched the new movie “The Batman” this weekend. The movie had a lot of political overtones, and several questions kept bothering me after I saw the movie. Did Bruce Wayne vote, and, more importantly did he vote Republican or Democrat?

If he didn’t vote, I could understand, as he was busy trying to capture the Riddler. For the rest of us, we just got our new voter registration card in the mail last week, so we have no excuse not to vote in the upcoming primaries and midterms elections.

Here is my thought process, staying in the DC universe, and it is subjective. Superman is definitely a Republican, but unfortunately so is Lex Luther and Two Face. Superman is most likely a Reagan Republican as he is very pro-U.S. military. Green Arrow is definitely a Democrat, but so is Catwoman and Poison Ivy, of course.

It is important to note the older Batmen have been elected mayor and to the City Council in the comic books. But this is about “The Batman.”

Bruce Wayne is definitely a billionaire trust fund baby, titan of industry, and gets lots of tax cuts, so he has Rockefeller or moderate Republican upbringing. Definitely not a Tea Party Republican because of his issues with guns, but he clearly stands with the good police and military; those are more conservative Republican values. He is not for defunding the police. Also, the mayor of Gotham seems to have lots of power, so he most likely likes a small government, which lines up with Reagan Republican ideology, and he is definitely tough on crime. The car chase with the new Batmobile says soundly that he’s not a member of the Green Party.

The Batman has liberal and progressive tendencies and is probably pro-gun control. He is definitely against the death penalty. He is extremely cynical about politics, doesn’t trust anyone, and he rules with fear, so that very left wing. He is a philanthropist and spends millions on social care like modern liberals. The Batman doesn’t care about national issues; only local ones. So, Libertarian?

I feel that Bruce Wayne is definitely a registered Republican but is a swing voter with tendencies to vote for uncorrupted Democrat candidates and probably voted for Bella Real.

If The Batman can vote, so can you. Early voting for the May 3 Montgomery County Primary Election begins April 13, and voter registration and address change deadline is April 4.
