Ira Lee Biggs, 90 of Tennessee Ridge passed away Tuesday February 18, 2014 at Houston County Medical Center.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday February 22, 2014 at Nave Funeral Home Chapel with Sis. Beverly Dycus and Sis. Denise Settle officiating. Burial will be at Concord Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 p.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home. Nave Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ira L. Biggs was born March 1, 1923 in Stewart County, TN, son of the late Donie Meadows Biggs and James C. Biggs. He is preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Barbee and Mattie Mae Boardman.
He was a member of Long Branch United Methodist Church. He worked for Watkins and Associates Consulting Engineers for 34 years. He served in the 5th Army during WWII in North Africa, Italy, Austria, and Germany.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jo Ann Scholes Biggs of Tennessee Ridge, TN; a son Anthony Lee Biggs of Cocoa Beach, FL; a daughter Cindy Biggs Loxley and husband Paul of Morganfield, KY; two sisters Myrtle Biggs of Nashville, TN; Vicki Cherry of Springfield and a brother Lester Biggs of Clarksville; three grandchildren, Thomas, Matthew, and Mary Lou Loxley, nieces and nephews.
Ted Scholes, Terry Scholes, Fred Scholes, Paul Loxley, Thomas Loxley and Matthew Loxley will serve as pallbearers; memorials may be made to Long Branch United Methodist Church.
