CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Clarksville teen was taken by Lifelight to a Nashville hospital after falling off the back of a pick up truck early Monday morning. The 19-year-old male was intoxicated and investigators believe this may have led to the incident.
A little after midnight, a 19-year-old man was found on the 101st Airborne Division Parkway roadway between Ft Campbell Blvd and Jordan Rd. Passerbys saw the man and called 911.
Clarksville Police were able to locate the man on the roadway. He was taken by Lifeflight to a Nashville hospital and listed in critical condition. The man had road rash but no indicators of an assault.
Crash Investigator Larry Harris was able to unravel the mystery. After identifying the man and his whereabouts from early in the evening crash investigator, Officer Larry Harris, was able to determine the suspected timeline.
The 19-year-old had been at a party, had been drinking, and was unable to get home. So, another man put the 19-year-old in the bed of a Dodge Ram 2500 to take him home. At some point, unknown to driver of the pickup and for an unknown reason, the 19-year-old exited the back of the truck onto the roadway.
A short time later, when the pickup driver discovered the 19-year-old was not in back of the truck, police were contacted and the investigator was able to determine what happened.
The driver did not have any indicators of being intoxicated. The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.
