CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Officecaptured an inmate who escaped from the Workhouse Thursday evening.
According to a news release, a citizen notified deputies that Jeremy Hummel, 24, was located at the Waffle House on North Second. Upon seeing law enforcement approach he fled across the street where he was quickly taken into custody in the parking lot of Budget Brakes.
At the time of capture he was wearing brown boxers, white t-shirt, black socks, and black shoes.
Medics have cleared Hummel and deputies have transported him to the Montgomery County Jail.
He has been charged with escape and his bond has been set at $100,000.
Hummel is a nonviolent offender serving time for theft and simple possession. He has been in custody since November 13 and sentenced to 364 days. He moved over to the workhouse to begin serving his sentence on December 2.
Hummel escaped while he and other inmates were loading the kitchen van.
“It is unfortunate that Hummel made the poor decision that he did,” said Sheriff Fuson. “Thankfully due to the hard work of our deputies along with CPD officers, Hummel was quickly placed back into custody and no one was injured.”
