Initia Matavao Sr., age 66, of Clarksville, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Centennial Medical Center, in Nashville.
Initia was born in Apia, Samoa, to the late Kuka Matavao and Epenesa Stower Matavao.
Initia was a mechanic and served in the US Army for five years. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 31, at 12:00 Noon, at St. Michael Catholic Church, in Oak Grove, KY. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery – West, in Hopkinsville. Visitation will be Friday, July 31, from 10:00 AM until the hour of service, at the church.
Initia is survived by his wife of 44 years, Alaisea Tue Matavao; five sons, Tue L. (Michelle) Matavao, Erlangen A. (Angie) Matavao, Punaloa (Steffany) Matavao, Posu (Leilani) Matavao, and Initia Matavao, Jr.; three daughters, Seneuefa Matavao of Clarksville, Antonina (Ronnie) Riley, and Epenesa (Suitulaga) Tausilia; brother, Laki Matavao; two sisters, Pisaina Matavao and Timuia Matavao; twenty grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
